GGS will hold a special meeting at 1:00 p.m. on Sat. 23 February 2013
at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 5100 Glacier Highway -
High Council Room (name on door) - NOT in FHC or the Gym as shown
on the poster, the room is just to the right as you enter at the main double
doors at the right end of the building.

Our meetings are open to the public and are free of charge.

The program "Genetics/DNA" will be presented by
Senior Genealogist Kyle J. Betit of ProGenealogists,
Salt Lake City, Utah.



Kyle, born and raised in Juneau, but now living in
Salt Lake City, has been a professional genealogist
for the past 25 years. He is the grandson of former
longtime Juneau resident Sarah Lupro.

Lost Alaskans
Presented by Deborah Smith

From 1904 to the 1960's, Alaskans who needed mental health services were to Morningside Hospital in Portland, OR. (Some) Alaskans were convicted of being insane and were sent ("shipped") to Oregon where they became patients of Morningside. They were taken from their families and communities, and often, never heard from again.
